Amadeus Kamagenge of the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) says mobile phones are helping his program reach job seekers. The government is experimenting with ways to let mobile phone users access online job data, handle employer-employee grievances, and track progress of program trainees, says Kamagenge. In addition, mobile technology is making program administration more cost-effective.
Cards are replacing cash payments as they are extremely convenient, but Cashless Payments have remained a distant dream across emerging markets due to poor payment infrastructure. In Tanzania more than 75% of the population is financially included through mobile money. But only 1% use mobile money to pay in person for goods and services as mobile payments lack the familiar Ease of Use of a Card & a POS. Airtel Tanzania has launched an affordable CARD & POS solution for daily small payments using Mobile Money. This Tap & Pay solution uses NFC TAG for a consumer and a specially designed ruggedised POS for any merchant in Tanzania. If you didn't know, I spent 6 weeks of my summer volunteering and working as a Communications Intern for CCBRT, a disability hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. It was the most amazing and rewarding experience and I did things I never could've even dreamt of. Along with collecting photos, videos and case studies for the hospital, I met amazing people, helped deliver a baby (wtf) and got to travel to different corners of the country! I attempted to work on several different videos for this channel throughout my stay there, but as I was working a full-time job, taking a summer school course online and trying to enjoy my summer, they got pushed to the side. On my last work day in Africa, I decided to film my day with my phone and this is what came out. I'm still hoping to do a compilati...
More films about Africa: https://rtd.rt.com/tags/africa/ In Tanzania, it is against the law to marry underage girls. The punishment for those responsible – the husband and the parents of the bride who allowed the wedding to happen – is up to 30 years in prison. Local authorities and activists are working to prevent child marriages, often interrupting such weddings. Rescued girls are taken to a shelter, where they rece...
